MBEAT-based satellite backup for mobile network infrastructure
Viasat MBEAT (Multi-Beam Best Effort Aggregated Throughput) is a shared satellite service that aggregates capacity across multiple beams, built on flexible, network-wide capacity sharing rather than dedicated bandwidth. The solution uses KA-SAT satellite technology.
This model is ideally suited to backup and network resilience applications, where availability and geographic flexibility matter more than guaranteed fixed bandwidt.
Deployment architecture:
- Satellite traffic can be handed off at multiple independent ground stations, with eight European points of presence (PoPs) available.
- Handover takes place at Layer 2 (L2).
- Bandwidth management, traffic routing and IP-layer configuration are fully customisable.
- This allows the MBEAT service to integrate seamlessly into existing mobile core and backhaul environments.
Shared MBEAT capacity enables partners to use satellite resources dynamically, keeping critical network elements connected even if terrestrial connectivity fails – without architectural compromises.
The Service Provider is entitled to adjust the subscription fees once per year, by no more than the annual consumer price index published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) for the previous calendar year.
