ASYMMETRIC CONNECTION
Asymmetric connection: the download and upload bandwidth are different – usually the download speed is higher. You may know this from home, as it’s how residential internet works. Most businesses need this solution too, because their incoming data traffic is much higher than the outgoing.
BACKUP INTERNET
Backup internet: a secondary, or reserve internet service replacing immediately the primary one in the event of a failure or outage. This ensures uninterrupted data traffic, and consequently, the continuous operation of your business, helping you avoid the losses associated with outages. To maximize security, we use an alternative infrastructure for the service, which is very likely to remain functioning even if the main connection fails.
LEASED LINE
Leased line: for this service, the guaranteed bandwidth is the same as the nominal. We can provide you up to 1000 Mbps or more, 100% of which is guaranteed, so it’s always available to you. And all this comes with 99.5% or more SLA.
FIXED IP ADDRESS
Fixed IP address: IP address is a number assigned to each device connected to the internet, a unique identifier for that device. In internet traffic, computers and other machines recognise each other by their IP address. Because the number of assignable IP addresses is limited, most devices only receive one when they connect to the network. This is called as a dynamic IP address: a specific address is constantly “roaming” between actually connected devices. Home internet packages typically offer this. However, Vannet’s business packages always include a fixed IP address. The address belongs to you and no one else can get it even if you switch off your devices. This is an important factor if you are running servers or corporate mail systems.
GUARANTEED BANDWIDTH
Guaranteed bandwidth: we determine the maximum bandwidth available for each of our tariff plans, but the actual speed of your internet connection depends on the network load. When data traffic spikes, the telecoms infrastructure clogs up, similar to a city high street full of cars. In this point guaranteed bandwidth – the proportion of the total bandwidth available to your business in all circumstances – becomes crucial . You can surely use it even in the worst “traffic jams”.
COVERAGE
Coverage: a map of the availability of each service. Vannet is capable of providing business internet connection in any – really any! – part of Hungary. The combined technologies we use give us 100% coverage. However, only satellite Internet has 100% coverage, while the other solutions, which depend on terrestrial infrastructure, have lower availability. When you contact us, the first thing our experts will do is to check which of these are available on your site.
MICROWAVE INTERNET
Microwave internet: this technology allows the subscriber to access the internet via a microwave connection. No cables are needed, the connection is provided by a dish antenna. The signal transmission is extremely stable and does not interfere with other communication devices (such as cellphone repeaters). The internet connection is therefore reliable and uninterrupted. But the solution has a limitation: it is available in locations from where the antenna “overlooks” the base stations.
But where it works, it is really fast. You can choose symmetrical plan with up to 2000 Mbps bandwidth, 100% guaranteed. Your business will benefit from the technology because we can make customised packages with bandwidth and availability tailored to your needs.
MOBILE INTERNET
Mobile internet: technology used by mobile phones. Computers can also connect using a small, portable or fixed router. Coverage is quite high – although not 100% – so it is a good choice if there is no fibre-optic network or microwave tower available nearby, but you need more bandwidth than satellite. Another advantage is that it has no fixed endpoint, so you can use it everywhere. You don’t need to install any equipment, not even a dish antenna on your property.
SATELLIRE INTERNET
Satellite internet: a technology independent of the terrestrial infrastructure, connecting the subscriber to the world wide web via a satellite dish. Only a dish antenna is necessary to make connection which sends the signal from your device to a satellite in geostationary orbit (i.e. rotating with the Earth and therefore appearing motionless from the surface). The satellite then connects to the internet via a base station on the ground.
Although the signal travels back and forth through space, data transfer is still extremely fast. The ping, or latency, is only 700 ms, which meets the needs of business users.
The greatest advantage of satellite technology is 100% coverage. It really works anywhere in the country, even in remote forest clearings. And regardless of the weather: the connection remains stable even when the sky is cloudy or stormy. On the downside, the available bandwidth is limited.
FIBER-OPTIC INTERNET
Fibre-optic internet: the most common and popular technology. Internet connection is established via a thin, fibre-optic cable, which is an extremely fast and secure way to transmit information. The cables are typically buried underground therefore breakdowns and line breaks are extremely rare.
The disadvantage of an optical network is the necessary investment to build the infrastructure itself. But we can easily connect your company to the existing backbone.
BANDWIDTH
Bandwidth: is the maximum data traffic per second, literally the speed of your internet connection. It is usually given in megabits per second (Mbps) and can range from a few tens to several thousands. It determines how fast you can download and upload files. For example, it takes 13 minutes and 20 seconds to download a 100 MB file over a 1 Mbps bandwidth connection, and 1 minute and 20 seconds over a 10 Mbps bandwidth.
SYMMETRIC CONNECTION
Symmetric connection: internet accesses with equal download and upload speed. We can offer for your business bandwidths up to over 1000 Mbps.
WIFI
Wi-Fi: wireless internet connection. To use it, you will need one or more routers and possibly a signal booster: the number and power of these will depend on the size and layout of your site or office and the number of users you want to connect. You can install a Wi-Fi network for any internet connection technology, so it doesn’t matter whether your company uses fibre, microwave or satellite.
