The Hungarian Academy of Sciences operates two mountain resorts in Mátra. The Hotel Academy in Mátrafüred and the Resort of Academic Scientists in Mátraháza provide ideal conditions for relaxation in picturesque surroundings – not only for academics.
The institution also uses these accommodations for professional purposes, conferences and meetings related to research projects are regularly held here. However, the poor quality of the internet connection caused a lot of inconvenience. That’s why they turned to us to find a solution to meet their needs to replace the outdated copper cable network.
“The location of the buildings and the infrastructure of the area made it difficult to find a technological solution satisfying for us. We have been trying to fix the internet connection of the resorts for a very long time, but various technical obstacles stood in the way of success. Before signing the contract we had a one-year-long consultation with Vannet, during which we jointly examined the possibilities and created the ideal construction,” said Attila Botta, Acting Director of the MTA Recreation Centre.
The cooperation brought a lot of new experience for us as well. For the first time, we could welcome a scientific institution among our customers. This is a special situation: not only ordinary hotel guests will use our service to surf the internet from their phones. The resorts are regularly hosting international online conferences and large meetings which require a stable, high-bandwidth internet connection capable of serving many users.
A leased line is the best solution when high guaranteed bandwidth is necessary. That’s why we built a fibre optic connection for both resorts. The mountainous terrain made difficult the work, but our experienced construction team overcame the obstacles.
