The Pécs Railway Sports Club is one of the oldest sports clubs in the city. It was founded in 1919, originally as a community of local railway workers, as its name suggests. Today, it operates with 13 departments and a membership of over 1200 people. Several of their teams (basketball, water polo, football) have competed or are currently competing in the Hungarian first division, and dozens of their athletes have also qualified for the Olympics.
